U.S. Representative from Maryland Co-Sponsrs Public Service Loan Forgiveness Option

Last Wednesday marked the unveiling of a new student loan forgiveness program. In 2007, U.S. Representative John Sarbanes, D-Maryland, co-sponsored the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Option. The law did not take effect, however, until July 1, 2009. To be approved for the benefit you must have a federal student loan and choose a career with an applicable public service job, a qualifying government or nonprofit entity.
